Miss Susie Gentry, 1860-1944, was a beloved figure in Franklin, noted for her interest in regional history. She was the daughter of Dr. Meredith Watson Gentry and Martha Jones. In 1930, shown as age 66, she was living in Lynnhurst, the home where she grew up, at 1100 Main St. [now West Main]. Also in the house, but shown as a separate household, were John Butner, 76, a truck farmer, and his wife, Simmie, 55. Unfortunately, the house was torn down a number of years ago for the construction of an apartment complex.

Although she shared a surname with my mother's family, any relationship was very, very remote.
