In 1930 Ed T. Peek, 58, a motorman on the Interurban Railroad, lived at 1121 Main St. [also known as West Main or West End] with his wife Emma, 49, and their son Ernest, 19. The Peeks were to remain family friends for many years. Coincidentally, in the early 1970's, a Peek grandson married into the Berger family, my mother's employer in the 1940's at Loveman, Teitlebaum, and Berger's Department Store. Just a few years ago I discovered that Emma Peek, the former Mary Emma Tucker, was, like me, the great-great granddaughter of Frederick Binkley and Adeline Shackleford. Emma Tucker Peek was born in 1880 and died in 1970. Sources: |
