From the historical marker for Wyatt Hall:
"During the Civil War, occupants of the house witnessed the passing of Union Gen. Don Carlos Buell's army on its way to Shiloh in 1862 and the advance and retreat of Gen. John Bell Hood's Army of Tennessee and Gen. John Schofield's U. S. Army of the Cumberland to and from Nashville following the Battle of Franklin. Owners of the house in the second half of the 19th century include Mary Ashlin Moore, Hendley Stone Reynolds, W. H. Farmer, and V. W. McGavock. In 1928 Perkins Cannon purchased the house for his family and it remained in the Cannon family until purchased by W. H. and Margaret Wyatt in 1946. The Wyatts modernized the house, giving it a name as well as a reputation for hospitality and horsemanship. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, this property maintains a high level of architectural integrity."
