Dr. James Otey Walker was born on January 22, 1888, and died in February 1977. My grandmother Gertrude Butner Gentry told me that Dr. Walker was one of the first people that she met in Franklin. She met him in 1915 as she was walking down what is now Third Avenue, North, and he was coming through the gate at the home of Green Williams, father of his future wife Jennie. In 1920, after Jennie's death, Dr. Walker was living on Third Avenue with Green Williams.
