Fletcher Walton Smith was minister of what is now the Fourth Avenue Church of Christ from 1891 to 1896 and from 1908 to1930. He was born on March 12, 1858, and died on November 11, 1930. He is buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mother often mentioned how beloved he was, not just by his congregation, but by the whole town of Franklin and how businesses and schools closed for his funeral.
